When does 1 = 35? When you donate to sustain ProZ Pro Bono operations. Find out how »
Invest in the infrastructure of good
and turn every donated dollar into $35 of humanitarian aid.
Language should never be a barrier to survival. Healthcare, legal counsel, trauma healing, support services, education, protection of vulnerable populations, and other vital information is being delivered to those who need it, in the languages they need it, through non-profits around the world, thanks to the hard work of freelance language professionals who generously volunteer their time and expertise through ProZ Pro Bono.
ProZ Pro Bono (PPB) currently serves over 150 non-profits across the globe who would otherwise not have access to the quality, human-in-the-loop language services their messages and information deserve. We've translated over 14 million words to date. Every $1 invested in our operations unlocks, as of 2026, $35 of professional-grade humanitarian aid.
Now, we are looking to ensure the sustainability and growth for this essential infrastructure, which will allow us to help more non-profits break their language barriers, reach more people, allow freelance language professionals to leverage their skills for causes they deem worthy, and do more good.
We are seeking a select group of Defenders, Guardians, and Champions to anchor our 2026 operations. This is an invitation to move beyond traditional charity and to join a professional partnership that:
-
bolsters your organization's social impact profile,
-
provides defensible Environmental, Social, and Governance data that can be used in RFPs,
-
demonstrates your commitment to the human (and humanitarian) side of the language industry.

Valuation methodology: The donation-to-services figure is based on a conservative blended rate of $0.15/word. This represents the average "replacement cost" for professional human translation services. While our network includes a diverse range of experience levels, our internal coordination—including peer review, structured quality assurance, and mentoring— ensures that all delivered work meets or exceeds the functional needs of our partner NGOs. Note that depending on the content and languages involved, one may expect to pay more than our conservative rate used here for professional human-in-the-loop translations.
