ProZ Pro Bono news, September 2026
Hello again, dear volunteers! Am I the only one who spends a good portion of the month of September misremembering the lyrics to "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire as it plays on a loop in my head?
International Translation Day event: this coming Tuesday and Wednesday
It's that time of year again. International Translation Day is on the 30th, and as usual, there will be a free online event for language professionals hosted on ProZ.com. The event spans two days, Tuesday the 29th and Wednesday the 30th. I will be performing my regular co-hosting duties, so stop by if you want to hear me say "Um... uh... um" a lot, but the program is pretty solid, so you may pick up some interesting knowledge or perspectives as well. One of the scheduled sessions will be given by Soeren Eberhardt with our partner Translation Commons, so be sure to tune in for that!

My interview with Lori Thicke
Lori Thicke founded Translators without Borders in 1993, which went on to become the world's largest language charity. Her vision of language services leveraged to support humanitarian causes has been a great sort of lighthouse in my short time so far at ProZ Pro Bono, and — humble brag — I even had the chance to work with her in person some years ago when she visited the ProZ.com offices in Argentina.
She has a new memoir out, and with the excuse of International Translation Day, I was able to interview her about her book, her work, and her take on the future of the profession. And there is even some exciting ProZ Pro Bono news we will talk about as well...
